The recipe is the shopping list.

Peristyle Grocery Cart lets your AI assistant do the grocery run. Ask for a dish, and it finds a real creator's recipe, matches every ingredient to a product at your Kroger or Walmart, and fills the cart. You check out in the store's own app, the way you already do.

What it is

A connector that gives ChatGPT, Claude, or any assistant that speaks the open MCP standard three things it did not have: a catalog of recipes from real food creators, product search at your grocery store, and a way to put things in your cart.

Put those together and a sentence like "shop this for Sunday" becomes a filled cart.

Recipes
From food creators who publish with Peristyle, brought in with their name and a link back on every one. When you ask for a dish, you get a person's recipe, not an averaged one.
Stores
Kroger, which you connect once with your Kroger sign-in so items land straight in your cart for pickup or delivery. Walmart, which needs no account hookup and hands you a walmart.com link with everything already in the cart.
Matching
Every ingredient line becomes a real product with a size and a price. You see what was picked before anything is added, and you can swap or drop any item in one reply.
Memory
Your store, your brands, your diet, and, if you turn it on, a pantry so it stops buying the olive oil you already have. Preferences stay on your device; the pantry is opt-in.
Checkout
Always in Kroger's or Walmart's own app or site. Peristyle never sees your payment details and never places an order.

Why you'd want it

The gap between seeing a recipe and eating it is where good intentions die. Not the cooking. The part before it.

You find a recipe. You scroll past the preamble. You type the ingredients into a notes app, guess at quantities, check the pantry, forget the cotija, and go to the store anyway. By Wednesday the plan is pasta again.

Peristyle Grocery Cart collapses that whole stretch into one message. The recipe you were already reading becomes the cart you were going to build by hand. What is left is the part you actually wanted: cooking something good.

  1. Before

    • Find a recipe, six tabs deep
    • Retype the ingredients
    • Check the pantry, twice
    • Search each item in the store app
    • Forget one. Substitute badly.
  2. After

    • "Shop this at my Kroger."
    • Glance at the picks, swap one
    • Check out

Built so you can stop paying attention

Nothing happens without you

Every pick is shown before it is added. The cart stays in your store's app, and checkout is yours. It cannot place an order, and it cannot take payment.

Private by default

Your store, diet, and brand preferences stay on your own device. The pantry is off until you turn it on. Peristyle never sees a card number, because it never touches checkout.

The cook gets the credit

Every recipe carries its creator's name and a link home, and each shopped cart is attributed to them. Cooking from a person's work should count for that person.

A pantry that remembers, without the upkeep

Pantry apps die the same way: you are asked to count eggs, and by week two you have stopped. This one never asks for a count.

  • Have or out. Never how many. Mark something as in the kitchen and it learns how long that kind of thing usually lasts. When the time is up it says probably out, and the next cart offers to restock it instead of pretending to know.
  • It asks, it doesn't assume. Checkout happens in the store's app, so nothing can see what you bought. Next time you talk to it, it asks one question: did you get everything? Your answer stocks the pantry. One yes, and the cart it just built is now what is on your shelf.
  • Staples stop showing up. Olive oil, rice, the spices you always have: once the pantry knows, they are left out of every cart until they are probably gone.
  • It learns your picks. Say you loved a brand or never want one again, and the next match honors it. Change your mind and the old opinion is gone, not stacked underneath.
  • Off until you turn it on. The pantry is opt-in. Once on, it follows you between phone, laptop, and assistant, because a pantry that lives on one device is not much of a pantry.

How to use it

Three steps. The first one you do once.

  1. Add it to your assistant

In ChatGPT it is one click. In Claude, Cursor, or anything else that supports MCP connectors, you paste one URL. The setup guide walks through each.

  2. Ask for a recipe

Name a dish, a mood, or a creator. Ask for the ingredients at your store. It shows you the picks; you say yes, or change one.

Shopping at Kroger for the first time? It hands you a Kroger sign-in link, you approve it once, and from then on items go straight into your Kroger cart.

  3. Check out where you always do

Open the Kroger app or the Walmart link, look the cart over, pick pickup or delivery, and pay. Next time, tell it what you actually bought and the pantry gets smarter.

Things to say to it

These only work once the Grocery Cart is added to your assistant, so do step one first. Then copy any of these, or open one straight into a new chat. Each shows off a different part.

  • Shop a recipe

Using the Peristyle Grocery Cart, find a weeknight chicken recipe, match its ingredients to products at my grocery store, show me what you picked, then put everything in my cart.

  • Cook from a creator you follow

Using the Peristyle Grocery Cart, give me a recipe from Toscano's Table and add the ingredients to my Walmart cart.

  • Skip what you already have

Using the Peristyle Grocery Cart, turn on my pantry, mark that I have olive oil, garlic, and rice, then shop a shrimp recipe without those.

  • Set how you shop

Using the Peristyle Grocery Cart, remember that I'm vegetarian, I prefer store brands, and I pick up from the Kroger nearest 45202.

What it looks like in ChatGPT

A real run, unedited. No browser tab, no retyping.

  1. A chat with ChatGPT using the Peristyle Grocery Cart: 'Give me a chicken recipe from Toscano's Table,' answered with the full Grilled Elote Chicken Bowls recipe and its ingredient list.
You ask for a recipe. It comes back with the creator's name on it.
  2. The reply 'Add it to my Walmart cart,' and ChatGPT confirms the ingredients were added to a Walmart cart, with a link to finish checkout.
One message matches every ingredient to a real product.
  3. A Walmart cart holding all seventeen items, with pickup and delivery options, a subtotal, and the checkout button.
The cart is waiting in the store's own app. You check out there.
